Nette Geschichte aus alten C64 Zeiten auf nerdcore.de

Meine PLK-Nummer war 034331D. PLK steht für Postlagerkarte und die Dinger wurden von Swappern und Tradern der deutschen C64-Szene genutzt, um halbwegs anonym die neuen Cracks und Demos zu tauschen. Die Pros machten das natürlich bereits per BBS und Modem, ein Bekannter von mir, ehemaliges Mitglied der deutschen A.C.E. benutzte einen Akkustikkoppler. Das waren die richtigen Swapper. Ich als C64-Scene-n00b latschte jeden Tag zur Post und holte mir ein paar Päckchen ab, ein paar Kontakte hatte ich mir über Kleinanzeigen in der 64er zusammengeschrieben und ich hatte, nachdem man mich vor einem gewissen Günther Freiherr von Gravenreuth gewarnt hatte, sorgfältig drauf geachtet, einer gewissen Tanja konsequent aus dem Weg zu gehen.

Eine Perle unter den Studienangeboten

Nicht nur “alle Jahre wieder”, sondern sogar jeden Monat vergibt der Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft eine Auszeichnung mit dem glänzenden Namen “Hochschulperle”. Damit sollen innovative Projekte im akademischen Bereich nicht nur gewürdigt, sondern auch als leuchtende Bespiele bundesweit bekannt gemacht und zur Nachahmung empfohlen werden. Im Weihnachtsmonat Dezember ist der Stifterverband an der Universität Oldenburg fündig geworden. Dort gibt es nämlich ein Studienangebot, das sich ganz speziell an anerkannte Flüchtlinge richtet. Anja Braun stellt dieses ausgezeichnete Projekt vor.

There is one thing I can be sure of: I am going to die. But what am I to make of that fact? This course will examine a number of issues that arise once we begin to reflect on our mortality. The possibility that death may not actually be the end is considered. Are we, in some sense, immortal? Would immortality be desirable? Also a clearer notion of what it is to die is examined. What does it mean to say that a person has died? What kind of fact is that? And, finally, different attitudes to death are evaluated. Is death an evil? How? Why? Is suicide morally permissible? Is it rational? How should the knowledge that I am going to die affect the way I live my life?

If you need something to really tie a room together and feel like referencing some of the biggest pop culture icons, scroll down and unfold the magic. The guys at Kreatworks are a talented bunch, led by Mr. Sudjai (Mai), who have been working on a series of statues made entirely out of scrap metal. These statues reference pop culture icons in a steampunk-like fashion, and thanks to their astounding level of detail, combined with a pretty big size (between 20 in. to 9 ft), will get geeks drooling and asking for more.
